An Australian native who now calls Canada her home, Animalia belts out haunting melodies and blends them with ominous industrial beats. The results? Moving thumping heart pounding head swaying stuff. Wonderful weirdness comparable to the likes of Bjork or Fever Ray – and Animalia has the off settling yet on point videos to match. Teaming up with director Brandon Cronenberg (Antiviral), Karim Hussain (Hobo With a Shotgun) and Caitlin Cronenberg the video for “Stifling” is eerie, strange, simple and compelling.
“Stifling” is the first single off Animalia’s debut album Mouth Full of Teeth, which just came out today. You can stream the entire thing over at her bandcamp. She’ll also be touring all over Ontario this June. Check out the dates below.
